Honey County's "Women in Country" concert series at the Fifth in Anaheim continues to be a success, as the Los Angeles based trio shines the spotlight on their fellow female musicians.
The standing-room only event Saturday night (March 23rd) featured Maddie Leigh, Kylie Trout, Liddy Clark, and still in her teens, Olivia Ooms, each playing a handful of songs before all joining together with Honey County for a rendition of Miranda Lambert's "Baggage Claim."
Dani Rose and her 'bridesmaids' Devon Jane and Katie Stump delivered a strong, sassy set, starting with the very appropriate "Back in California," followed by "High on the Radio," from their latest EP. Their rousing "Ain't No Party" led into a cover of Sam Hunt's "House Party," intertwined with Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance with Somebody."
They included "Cigarette" (recently played on K-Frog's All-Girl Power Hour and the video for which was played on CMT). The ladies debuted "Wake Up Tired" (written with their frequent collaborator Kalie Shorr). Katie Stump took the lead on "The City," about falling in love in an urban space, and "Love Someone" was a powerful reminder that you can't force someone into anything they don't want to do.
More exciting news from Honey County is on the way, so make sure this band is on your radar!
