Honey County continued their commitment to uplifting other women in music Saturday by headlining an all-female lineup outside the Field House at SilverLakes in Norco.
The full evening of music began at 6pm with local talent Payton Howie and Marcella performing acoustic sets of mostly covers of country music, proving themselves ones to watch. "The Voice" contestant Presley Tennant delivered more pop-stylings, complete with backup dancers, but never at the expense of the display of her powerhouse vocals. The Norco resident was clearly thrilled to be performing in her hometown.
Honey County wowed with their perfect harmonies that sound like the Southern California beaches that inspired songs like "High on the Radio." The performance also allowed the women to showcase some of their new material (some of which was written during a recent trip to Nashville), like "Never Knew You At All," and "Cry Wolf," which had the crowd howling along.
Line dancing broke out during their cover of Sam Hunt's "House Party," and per the instructions of the song, drinks were held up during the tribute song to the victims of the Borderline tragedy, "Country Strong," written to display the resilience of the country community.
The close of the show was particularly exhilarating, as it was the last show before the trio began their well-earned summer vacation.
