Anyone who's ever broken up with someone can probably relate to the lyrics of Lady Antebellum's latest single, "What If I Never Get Over You," and Dave Haywood of the band loves the universal message of the song, much like another of their biggest hits, "Need You Now."

"To me, this song, it asks so many great questions that are unanswered," he shares in a statement from their label. "'What if time doesn't do what it's supposed to do? What if I never get over you? What if I'm trying and I just can't get over you?'

"And I think we've all been there. I think that's what's always been so powerful about 'Need You Now.' I mean, that song, you know, it went around the world, to me because it just related to everybody," he continues. "So, the relatability is what stood out. I don't know, just to be able to tell both sides of a male and female perspective is just something that I feel like we just got away from a little bit. And so, it's exciting to be back doing that again, and it felt like us.

Even though the trio didn't write the song (Ryan Hurd is one of the co-writers on it, though), they still felt it was a good fit for them. "I was always like, 'Damnit, we didn't write it.' But somehow this one feels like something we wrote more than some of the other ones we have written. And I don't know why, but there's something beautiful about it that tells, to me, both sides of the story.

"The lyric, to me, asks questions that we all have and have thought of at some point in time."
