The Voice Season 8 runner-up Meghan Linsey is ready to tie the knot!

"It's official! We are so happy!" she wrote in a social media post, showing off her Giador engagement ring.

Meghan and her fiance, musician Tyler Cain, recently announced their new duo "Meg and Tyler," which will drop their first single "Mardi Gras and Rhinestones" on June 28th. The couple has been together - musically - and romantically - for seven years.

The couple told PEOPLE that the proposal came while they were in Alaska, filming a video. "I thought we were just walking down to check out the location, but when we walked up, the videographer was already flying the drone around us," Meghan told PEOPLE. "I assumed he was just testing everything out, but it did seem a little strange. That's when Tyler got down on one knee, and that's when I knew. I'm not easy to surprise, but he got me!"

"Meghan and I have toured all over the world together, and Homer is such a beautiful place for us," Tyler added about the Alaska locale for the proposal. "We made some amazing memories here together a few years ago, so I thought it'd be the perfect place to propose. I knew that after seven years of dating, it had to be EPIC!"

"I'm seriously a better version of myself with him, and it's not in a 'you complete me' kind of way," Meghan continued. "We're both very independent, and we let each other have space to do our own thing, but it's a good balance because we honestly love to be together. We also laugh a lot! Laughter is so important. I honestly don't think I knew what a healthy relationship was until I met Tyler."

Meghan first rose to national attention as winner of the reality show "Can You Duet," with her boyfriend at the time, Joshua Scott Jones. They formed the duet Steel Magnolia, which earned a hit with "Keep on Lovin' You."

The news of the marriage proposal comes two years after a devastating brown recluse spider bite to Meghan's face. "I wouldn't wish this experience on my worst enemy, but I would never take it back for myself for anything," Meghan wrote on social media. "I had to go through it and I'm a better more patient, loving person for it. I found true inner peace and learned how to love myself through the process. Invaluable lessons."
