As they seek to expand service to Hemet, Menifee and the surrounding communities, Menifee Valley Medical Center has announced they're seeking volunteers to serve on their emergency response crisis team and help support those who have experienced a traumatic event.
According to a press release, volunteers who complete training for the Trauma Intervention Program (TIP) may be called on by local first responders (police, fire, medical, and hospital personnel) "to provide emotional and practical support to family, friends, witnesses, and victims."
"Our mission is to provide emotional first-aid to survivors of tragedy to help ease their immediate suffering and facilitate long-term recovery," said Magda Stewart, CEO of the Trauma Intervention Program of Southwest Riverside County, in the press release. "We are grateful to Menifee Valley Medical Center for partnering with us to host the training program and encourage anyone who is interested in volunteering to attend."
"Menifee Valley Medical Center staff rely on TIP volunteers to provide critical support services to our patients and their families," added Tim Clark, Chief Operating Officer of Menifee Valley Medical Center. "We look forward to welcoming the new volunteers and hope this training program will encourage even greater community participation."
Volunteers must be at least 16 years old, have a clean driving record and clean criminal background, a reliable vehicle, and access to a computer. In addition, volunteers must complete 36 hours in-class training, and a 3-month field training.
Classroom training will take place at Menifee Valley Medical Center (28400 McCall Blvd. in Menifee) on the following days/times:
