A little girl from Redlands got to celebrate her second birthday in a very unique way - with a "Trash Bash."
According to her mother, Veronica Kasper Gomez, little Autumn gets very excited every Tuesday when the trash truck makes its weekly rounds in her neighborhood, resulting in a friendship with one of the drivers, Bill Van Akers. When it was time to celebrate Autumn's birthday, the City of Redlands agreed to send Bill - with one of the trash trucks - out to the party, so the kids could explore the truck, honk the horn, and more. Bill even gave "Auty" a toy trash truck as a gift.
Veronica, Auty, and Bill recently stopped by the K-Frog studios to tell us about this very special party, and friendship.
Next week, Bill will retire from the waste industry, but whoever takes over for him will have some very large shoes to fill.
