Smoke from California wildfires is affecting more than just the Golden State.

The National Weather Service in Phoenix, Arizona, reported hazy skies due to smoke from the numerous fires being transported east and south. They added that strong winds from a cold front are mixing dust with that smoke, so it may take a few more days for the smoke to clear in Arizona.

Meanwhile, a smoke and ash advisory has been issued for Riverside County. “Residents in the San Gorgonio Pass and western Riverside County need to be aware of the risks of breathing unhealthy air and take steps to keep safe,” noted Dr. Cameron Kaiser, Riverside County public health officer, in a press release.

He recommends that people who live in areas impacted by smoke and ash should avoid strenuous activity, remain indoors with the air-conditioning on and windows and doors closed. He also suggests keeping the indoor air fresh with a clean filtering system to prevent from bringing smoke inside.
