Indigenous author and historian, Angie Elita Newell, uses her writing as a way to tell stories about powerful women from the past who she has learned more about from oral history told to her by elders in her community.

Angie’s new book, All I See is Violence, is a historical novel that draws from real events to intertwine the stories of a professor, a soldier, and a warrior from three different time periods. She discusses the importance of preserving oral history in indigenous communities, her influences, and the lack of indigenous representation.
