Just a teenager, Addi from Eastvale is in a battle for life against an aggressive form of leukemia, and is desperately in need of a bone marrow transplant. Be the Match is trying to help patients like Addi by signing up members of the community for their bone marrow registry in hopes of finding the perfect match for these patients.
Joyce Valdez, Community Outreach Specialist for City of Hope, explains how the Be the Match program works, starting with a simple swab of one's cheek that only takes a couple of minutes. The community will have an opportunity to get swabbed this Sunday, September 19th from 12n-3p at Hillside Community Church in Rancho Cucamonga. Supporters of #TeamAddi who can't attend are asked to text TEAMADDI to 61474 to get a swab kit mailed to them.
