Brad Paisley's concert at FivePoint Amphitheatre in Irvine Saturday night (October 9th) marked the final date on his World Tour with Jimmie Allen and Kameron Marlowe and it was clear that the artists, their bands, and crews were in high spirits.
Much like his music videos, the video backdrop at Brad's concerts is an important part of his humorous brand, which takes shots at pop culture, which in this case, meant plenty of references to the pandemic, masks, and virtual everything. Brad also updated the lyrics to "Online" from "MySpace" to "Facebook page."
But Brad's musicianship and clever songwriting is always the star of his shows, and naturally, that was on full display as well, as well as Brad's gratitude for being able to perform and tour again. "We'll never take this for granted again," he noted, as he played the opening line to Guy Clark's "L.A. Freeway," before playing an acoustic version of "Whiskey Lullaby."
Fans in the pit shared updates on the Dodgers game, until Brad announced from onstage, "9 to 2, Dodgers. Final," eliciting a cheer from the fans in the audience.
There were guest appearances from the Brad Paisley muppet, as well as opening acts Kameron Marlowe and Jimmie Allen, who joined him for "I'm a Guy," and "Freedom Is a Highway," respectively (Jimmie donned a Dodgers jersey for his return to the stage). Both rejoined Brad for his encore, "Alcohol," which found the opening acts stripping their shirts off, much to the delight of the female audience members.
