Living in Florida, spending the Fourth of July at the beach is a must for Brian Kelley of Florida Georgia Line, even though it takes a bit of pre-planning and means an early morning.
"We take the 4th of July very seriously down at the beach," he says in a statement from his label. "It’s getting up at 4am – your whole truck is already loaded the night before. I’m talkin’ flags, beers, coolers, waters, towels, everything that you need is in the truck.
"So, we’ll drive out at four in the morning, get all the chairs, the flags, the tents, everything set up and then lock the truck, go back, get some sleep," he continues. "If you don’t get your spot by like 4:30, you’re not getting on the beach. It’s gonna be packed. So, set up early, get ready. And there’s a family, a group of friends that makes these bamboo, they put these American flags, like 50 of ‘em on these tall bamboo poles. And it’s just a sight to see when you step right on the beach, you’re like, ‘There they go. It’s the 4th, baby!’
"There’s volleyball; there’s grilling; there’s, like a DJ out on the beach. Sometimes people will pull their boats up right along the gulf and just kinda anchor out, swim out to ‘em, paddleboard back-and-forth.
"But just good times, good vibes, good people.”
