Chris Lane's February 2nd show at the Belasco Theatre in Los Angeles marked the only Wednesday night stop for the "Fill Them Boots Tour," but Southern California proved they were more than willing to stay up late on a school night for the "I Don't Know About You" singer and his tour mates Ernest and Lily Rose.

Performing in Los Angeles for the first time, Lily Rose turned in a set that was confident, brassy, and engaging, and Southern California has a lot to look forward to when she returns in July (date / location TBA).

Singer-songwriter Ernest is arguably to Morgan Wallen what Scotty Emerick and later Bobby Pinson were to Toby Keith - talented performers who made a name for themselves initially by writing solid hits for an established performer, and Ernest is well on his way to his own performing career.

Chris Lane began his set with the energetic "Fix," followed by "Take Back Home Girl," which had this reviewer wishing that Lily Rose had been brought back on stage to sing Tori Kelly's part, but her return to the stage for "Tequila on a Boat" made up for that. His cover of Garth Brooks' "Friends in Low Places" had the crowd singing along, and "Big Big Plans" was even more special with a surprise on-stage engagement (best wishes to the couple!).

His new single, "Stop Coming Over," is a strong offering, and a sweet song (despite its seemingly mean title), and his intimate, acoustic version of "Ain't Met You Yet" (inspired by his son), was a nice change of pace.

A young audience member got the best seat in the house when she was invited down to sit with Chris on stage during "For Her," as he tenderly held her hand to help her overcome her shyness. Chris brought his twin brother Cory out from behind the drums to sing Scotty McCreery's part during "Small Town On It."

He concluded the evening with a series of favorite medleys from the '90s, before wrapping up with audience favorite "I Don't Know About You."

The "Fill Them Boots" Tour will come to the House of Blues, Anaheim, on Friday, February 4th.
