There is a big misconception that odometer fraud disappeared with digital odometers, but that couldn't be further from the truth. In fact, CARFAX data suggests that over 1.9 million vehicles on the road have had their odometer rolled back (a 7% increase over the previous year), and CARFAX estimates the Los Angeles area has nearly 210,000 vehicles on the road with a rolled back odometer, making it #1 nationwide compared to other major metropolitan areas. That's more than double the number of vehicles with a rolled back odometer than the next closest city, New York with 92,000. Los Angeles saw a 4% increase compared to 2021.

Emilie Voss, Public Relations Director for Carfax, discusses how we can protect ourselves from odometer fraud.
