Jake Owen recently posted that he's sober 316 days. That alone is no easy task, but doing while working in an industry where alcohol is abundant, adds an extra layer of pressure and temptation. Jake told The Wake Up Call, "Every night is party for everyone you're playing for. So in a way you kind of become accustomed to like 'I'm gonna have a beer tonight or a couple beers here and there' and next thing you know, you're like 'man, I've had a lot of beers this week.'"

Jake said the biggest thing he learned since posting about his sobriety is how many people were "moved and touched by it". Being a songwriter and artist, he's been able to move people through his music, but this allowed him to connect with fans, friends, and other artists on a human level. "It's just an amazing thing to be able to connect with people like that."

Jake said his life is "tremendously better" since he stopped drinking. Jake's sobriety isn't the only thing he has to celebrate, he just scored his 10th #1 song with "Best Thing Since Backroads". The combination of personal and professional successes is what makes it most special for Jake.

He said, "To me, the ability to connect on that level with people at this point in my career, while still celebrating those kind of, you know, accomplishments with number ones, is like, that's what it's all about it."

Don't miss Jake Owen performing all his number one songs and more at Tailgate Fest next week at the Auto Club Speedway.
