Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd will celebrate their son's first birthday tomorrow (March 23rd), and it's clear that little Hayes is the apple of his parents' eyes.
"He's a great kid," Ryan shares in a statement from his label. "I mean – from what people tell us he's pretty easy."
"Yeah," adds Maren. "Other people will tell us, 'You got a really chill baby. He's very happy, very smilely. He has his two front teeth in now and they're so gapped. It's adorable. And he loves to sing and scream. He's very vocal though. He loves to sing. He loves to like babble."
One might wonder if Hayes has picked up any of his parents' love of music, and it sounds like he has, even if his talent still needs to be developed. "He loves the piano," Ryan shares. "I let him sit at the piano with me and he just bangs on the keys. That's his probably favorite thing."
"Yeah," says Maren. "It sounds like he's gonna be musical."
"He's not a good piano player yet," Ryan admits.
"He has his own style," Maren explains diplomatically.
"You have to have some patience," adds Ryan.
"He's not Mozart," Maren laughs.
And how will the family celebrate Hayes' first birthday? "We're gonna, I think have like just our parents and my brother or our siblings over," shares Ryan. "The thing with us is we can't really take many chances because if we get Covid that means that we can't go to something really important that we have on the calendar."
"We're being very safe," says Maren.
"So we're trying our best to make sure that that doesn't happen," continues Ryan. "So, yeah, everything we do is real small.
"We'll have a small birthday party for him," adds Maren.
"It's weird. It's odd," Ryan muses. "You count months, right, until now, and now you can start saying years, so I don't know. It does fly by though, you're right."
Here's to your next trip around the sun, Hayes!
