In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, Maren Morris revealed that she's leaving country music to explore a broader range of musical influences.
“I thought I’d like to burn it to the ground and start over,” the 33-year-old Morris says of country music. “But it’s burning itself down without my help.”
The six-time CMA award winner released a new two-song project titled The Bridge on Friday (Sept. 15), and she says the new songs are the start of a new musical chapter.
"I’ve kind of said everything I can say," Morris explained. "I always thought I’d have to do middle fingers in the air jumping out of an airplane, but I’m trying to mature here and realize I can just walk away from the parts of this that no longer make me happy."
