It's crazy to think that Maren Morris was turned away from one of the biggest singing competitions in the world.
The "Circles Around This Town" singer reflected on being rejected from American Idol by sharing a photo of her audition ticket. The Ticketmaster ticket is dated August 6, 2007 from Texas Stadium in Irving, Texas.
"My mom found my American Idol audition ticket from 2007. I didn’t make it past the first round cattle call," Morris wrote. "I wasn’t really into sports growing up but this feels like the equivalent of your mom saving your 10th place trophy."
This isn't the first time Morris, 32, has opened up about being turned away from the reality show. During a 2019 appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Morris recalled her audition experience as "Traumatic."
"My entire group got cut and they're like 'Sorry, you have to take the walk of shame,'" Morris explained. "I just remember being 17 and I had to walk through the parking lot and find my mom's car and cry on the way home with her."
Things ended up working out fine in the end for Morris who is currently on her Humble Quest Tour, which kicked off back in June.
