We've all seen the picture of servicemembers overseas that goes viral during Thanksgiving and Christmas that says, "Not everyone gets to go home for the holidays," and while we should absolutely be keeping those members of the military in our thoughts always, there are also servicemembers right here in our backyard who also can't go home to celebrate with friends and family.

Pattie Castillo's son is a Marine stationed at 29 Palms, and last Thanksgiving, she opened her house to about 45 of her son's unit members who weren't able to go home. She paid for this special celebration all out of her own pocket.

Corporal Adrien Castillo and his mom Pattie discuss the support they've received from Riverside Mayor Patricia Locke-Dawson, Altura Credit Union, and the community.

If you'd like to make a donation to help Pattie make Thanksgiving for more Marines this year, you can reach out to Corporal Castillo here.
