The California Department of Public Health has issued a travel advisory effective January 6th recommending that Californians avoid non-essential travel more than 120 miles away from their homes or to other states or countries.

Non-essential travelers from other states are strongly discouraged from coming to California, and everyone arriving in or returning to California is asked to quarantine for ten days after arrival (except to meet urgent critical healthcare staffing needs or to otherwise engage in emergency response).

These recommendations supercede the travel advisory issued on November 13th, 2020.

The CDPH reports that as of January 6th there were a total of 2,518,611 positive Covid cases and a total of 28,045 deaths in the state.
