For a few hours on Wednesday night, the 2020 CMA Awards offered a bit of normalcy as Country’s biggest stars performed on stage in front of a live audience.

Despite the image, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic still reared its head over the event causing numerous artists to sit out the CMAs due to exposure to the virus. During the show, hosts Reba McEntire and Darius Rucker weren’t shy about making references to COVID or the toll it has taken on all of us.

The CMAs filled the void of artists that couldn’t be at the show amicably delivering plenty of memorable moments that will go down as some of the finest in the award show’s history.

Here’s a list of artists that were forced to skip the 2020 CMA Awards due to coronavirus.

Hey Y’all, we wanted to let you guys know that we have received a positive COVID test within the band. As much as we were looking forward to performing at the CMA Awards tonight, we will no longer be attending in the interest of everyone’s safety. We miss y’all and stay safe! pic.twitter.com/dEd21kzCoj

News of Rascal Flatts’ omission came as the CMAs were going on as they revealed they had a positive test within the band forcing them to cancel their performance.

Lady A

With an hour until showtime, Lady A broke the news that they had a positive test from one of their immediate family members. The three members tested negative, but opted to play it safe and drop out. Charles Kelley still made an appearance on the show in a pre-taped segment with Carly Pearce.
