“Last night might have been the craziest night of my life,” Gilbert posted to Instagram following the birth, which took place on his tour bus in the parking lot of the venue. “Watching such an amazing woman do such an amazing thing is something I’ll never forget.”
According to a video posted by the 39-year-old, he was mid-show at Cadence Bank Arena in Tupelo during his Off the Rails Tour when he was pulled off stage for an “emergency backstage.”
Gilbert was taken to his bus where his reps confirmed wife, Amber, was in active labor with their son. Shortly after Brantley arrived, the baby was born.
“Thank you to our road family for rallying around us, Brittany Thornton for helping us bring this little dude into the world, Tupelo, Mississippi for showing us mad love and support, and most of all… Amber Gilbert, for letting me love you and showing me EXACTLY how incredibly strong a woman can be. I love you,” he expressed via social media.
Following the birth, Brantley gave a quick call to his mom to let her know the news and then ran back on stage to finish his show.
During CMA Fest in June, Gilbert shared with Audacy’s Katie Neal how excited he was to become a father of three, however, his daughter did not share the the same excitement to have a new brother.
“One of ‘em was really stoked and one of ‘em was not feeling it at all,” Brantley laughed, admitting his daughter was hoping for a girl and his son was rooting for a boy. “It’s bad,” he said of his 4-year-old daughter’s sass. “She’s boujee, she’s gangster too all at the same time. There’s a little Al Capone in that child… it’s something else,” he laughed.
After Baby #3’s dramatic entry into the world, Brantley took to social media to reveal his name -- Abram Howell Gilbert. "We will never forget the way you got here and we can’t wait to see what you do here," he concluded.
