As he worked hard to piece together his new album for the 2021 season, Brett wanted to make sure he fully captured the Christmas spirit by wearing a full suit to every recording session for the new album. The best part? Recordings took place in the spring time!
“I wore a full-on tux every single day to the studio,” Brett told Audacy’s Katie Neal. “I was like, ‘I’m going all the way in!’ My hotel was close enough to the studio where I would walk down the streets of New York in a tux — full bowtie, velvet shoes, all of it. I got some hilarious looks… but it really put me in the spirit.”
Brett’s commitment to the season has earned him the nickname, “Mr. Christmas,” which just so happens to make the perfect title for his latest album.
“People started calling me that [Mr. Christmas] a lot and it really is my persona. I love Christmas music, always have. I just find the magic in this time of year and it’s something that I just have such passion for.”
Brett is so passionate, he sees himself expanding new Christmas content for many years to come… until he’s 93 to be exact. From Christmas movies to fresh collabs and orchestral arrangements, nothing is off limits for Brett once the Christmas spirit hits.
“I dream of going to Europe and doing some stuff with the orchestras, and there’s some other artists [I’d like] to record some classic stuff with,” he shared. “I got a lot more duets and a lot more movies and a lot of different things. I plan on doing this until at least 93.”
We’d love to see it!
