Barrett joined Audacy’s Rob + Holly to detail the album, sharing it holds a different maturity than her debut album, Goldmine, which she released in 2020. “I am so pumped about this album,” Barrett said with excitement. “It’s just more intentional. It has a more consistent tone of theme and sound and I think it’s just kind of a step up from the first album.”
That theme is a very personal one for Gabby as it centers around the past three years of her life growing her family, faith, and music.
“These songs are very deep to me, especially a couple of them and what they talk about topic wise,” she explained. “What it talks about… is just a reflection of my life the last couple years. I feel like, me being 23 — I got married at 19, had my first baby at 20 — I’ve just had to kind of learn life a little bit quicker in a short amount of time.”
Barrett set the tone for the album with the lead single, “Glory Days,” highlighting the stage of life she’s in with her husband Cade Foehner and their young kids. Gabby gave fans an exclusive peek into that life with the music video as she shared home videos featuring her young daughter, Baylah May and son, Augustine, whose identities she usually conceals online by covering their faces.
“My husband and I originally did it for just privacy protection of their image,” Barrett said of her decision to conceal the identity of her kids on social media. “I don’t like a lot of the dark things that float around on the internet. People are doin’ real weird stuff on the internet generating photos [and] being very weird using them, taking your child’s photo and putting it on another page… selling photos. It’s really disturbing.”
“That’s not to say their image is never ever going to be shown," she continued. "It’s just for when they’re so little and I want to protect that for them.”
