Part of his new 4 song EP, Sides, HARDY rides the church organ and choir claps in his infectious new ode to country living, "By God."
"We actually had written another song earlier that day that was a little more of a serious song, and it was kind of a like a puzzle to put together. It was a little more difficult to write, and we had like 30, 45 minutes left, so we started writing 'By God' and it just fell out," HARDY shares with Audacy. "Like, it literally, I think we finished the whole thing in 30 minutes."
"I think that picking 'By God' for the next single, a lot of that was that it was a little bit different, or maybe even a lot different than something I've done before," he adds. "If you listen to my records, you can hear a lot of that, but I don't necessarily take those different shades of me to radio all the time. So just showing the world, and maybe the people that aren't huge HARDY fans and like record-listening HARDY fans, that there's a whole different side of me. And also, I just think it sounds like a big old hit, so best of both worlds."
"I just want people to feel good when they listen to it. You know, I've gone to some dark places with my singles in Country music. I've gone to some funny places, and some kind of edgy things, but this is just a really good feel-good song about loving where you're at in life and even geographically, I guess you could say. But I just want people to feel good and sing along with this one."
