Kelley's battle with alcohol was brought front and center over the summer of 2022 when Lady A decided to postpone their Request Line Tour dates into 2023 in order to support Charles on his journey. "I'm grateful for this time to focus on my family and my health," he told fans following the announcement.

Just before Thanksgiving, Kelley offered up some teases that something new was in the works, and now his joint collaboration with Lady A bandmate Dave Haywood and songwriter Jimmy Robbins has officially arrived on "As Far As You Could," giving listeners something to reflect on as we head into a brand new year.

"For me, the biggest word I've been holding on to is gratitude, not pride," Charles explained in a statement upon the track's release. "I'm grateful. I finally see the light and am connecting with what life is all about. Some days are hard, but the good so outweighs those bad moments. There's some beauty in all this, and I've had time to reflect, time to get healthy, time to write. I've probably written 50 songs this fall, and I feel like all of it was leading to this one song."

"Your response to this song has blown me away. Hearing all your stories has been incredibly healing for me and I can’t thank y’all enough for sharing," Kelley said on his social channels following the release.
