"The album is called '2.0' for a handful of reasons," Young shares with Audacy. "We obviously closed the album with a new version, a duet of a song from my first record, 'In Case You Didn't Know.' We're calling that 'In Case You Didn't Know, 2.0,' where we've brought in an artist that I'm a huge fan of, Hannah McFarland, to come write the second verse as the female perspective. We were just always kind of wondering if guys really are as bad at expressing their feelings as we know that we are and we're told that we are, how do we keep landing these wonderful women and why do they keep hanging around? And so we brought Hannah in to write the woman's perspective and she lent her beautiful vocals to the song."
Brett also shares that the other meaning has everything to do with his feelings with his family and his own personal evolution. "At this stage in my life being a dad and a husband and kind of moving into this getting older and wanting to take care of myself and be around a long time for my family. I'm kind of like the 2.0 version of myself."
"So the concept of the record kind of revolves around that. There's a lot of songs from my earlier days when we were in the bars and single and doing that whole thing, and there's a lot of songs about family and marriage and the whole thing. So there's a little bit of everything leading into this stage in my life which I feel like is the newest, freshest and best chapter so far."
