Turns out Matt Stell isn’t so stellar at remembering names. The 39-year-old joined KFRG’s Kelli on The Morning Wake Up Call and shared he is still trying to dig himself out of the hole he dug when he called a girl he was on a date with by the wrong name.

Stell’s dating life has been the topic of a lot of conversations recently after he poked fun at himself reacting to a TikTok video posted by a woman complaining about everything that went wrong on a date with him. While she never says his name specifically, referring to him as a “Country singer,” Stell makes clear it’s him as he reacts to the story.
After taking her to two restaurants that weren’t open and resorting to beers in the back of his truck, the real “problem” came when Stell called her Brooke and her name is Becca. Whoops.
“Being good at remembering names is a special gift and most of us don’t have it,” Stell said. “I just decided I’m not going to take it personal when people don’t remember mine and hopefully people won’t take it personal when I don’t remember theirs.”
Well, unless you’re Becca, who Matt defended saying it was “fair” she took being called by the wrong name on a first date personally.
“Sorry, Becca” he said, confident he was using the correct name this time. “You only touch that hot stove once and you get burned and you learn your lesson.”
Lesson learned.
