Emotions were high for Carly Pearce, who was named Female Vocalist of the Year at the 55th Annual CMA Awards last night. Her reaction to the win was a clear indication of just how much the award means to her.

Upon hearing her name announced as the winner by Amy Grant and Lauren Daigle, Pearce froze before the tears started flowing as she made her way to the stage. After walking onto the stage, Carly dropped down in disbelief for a few moments before attempting to collect herself to make a speech.
“I really didn’t think this was going to happen,” she squealed through the emotions. Just as we started to worry Carly wouldn’t be able to collect herself to speak further, fellow nominee and duet partner from earlier in the night, Ashley McBryde walked up on stage to help Pearce collect her thoughts.
"What she meant to say was, 'There's a lot of love, respect and admiration in this category,’” said McBryde before Carly calmed down and was able to continue speaking.
“I’ve just had a crazy year and I want you guys to know this means everything to me,” sobbed Pearce. “Country music saved me in a time that I needed it and I just want you guys to know that this is all I’ve ever wanted in the entire world and I just hope you know Country music is all I love, so thank you so much!”
The win was Carly’s first in the Female Vocalist of the Year category. Fellow nominees in the category this year included Ashley McBryde, Maren Morris, Miranda Lambert and Gabby Barrett.
