Taylor's Adventures - Angels Rest

Feeling adventurous? Let's go on a hike!

Taylor's Adventures

With all of this nice weather coming up this weekend and all of next week, it's time to get outside and go do something! Whenever I am feeling cooped up and antsy I like to get exercise. I know it can be tough to get out of your head and push through those urges to sit on the couch with a bag of chips and a movie, but I can guarantee that you will feel SO accomplished after conquering this amazing hike. Plus, the views are worth it!

TaylorThe top of Angels Rest - Columbia River Gorge

Angels Rest is located off of the Columbia River Gorge right next to the Vista House and can be navigated right through your phone or GPS. It's about 4.5 miles round trip and a little over 1500 feet of elevation gain. Through these trails you will pass waterfalls, creeks and beautiful sites as you climb to the top to reach an amazing view of the Gorge. You will feel like you're on top of the world! Up at the top you will walk through a series of rock trails so be sure to wear some good hiking shoes and be ready for your legs to burn a bit. I highly recommend bringing a few snacks and lots of water as you take your breaks and rest at each viewpoint. Take it all in!

Some things to pack:
- Lots of water!
- Sweatshirt/Windbreaker. The top of this hike is so windy it might blow you over!
- Granola Bar/Easy snacks
- Camera/phone for photos
- I personally like wearing a hat to get the hair and sun out of your face

This hike has a consistent uphill stride, making it easy to forget that you're burning tons of calories as you go. Be sure to get there a little bit early to get a parking spot as this hike is VERY popular with Oregonians! The hardest part about this hike are the switch back trails which might leave your hamstrings and quads asking for some breaks here and there. Be gentle with yourself and rest when you need to! Make sure to look UP and see all that this gorgeous state has to offer.

Take lots of photos and be sure to tag us in your adventures. I can't wait to share more of my adventures with you guys and I hope you get outside in these next few weeks and have some fun!
