The past few years have seen musical biopics on some of Rock’s most famous bands take the film world by storm. Now, a new film will tell the story of one of the most famous American bands of all time. The Grateful Dead.
“Though exact plot details haven’t been announced, the still-untitled film is expected to chronicle the band’s rise amid the ’60s psychedelic counterculture movement,” Variety writes.
The film is currently being developed at Apple and will see surviving members Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart, and Bill Kreutzmann serve as producers on the film. Jerry Garcia’s daughter, Trixie Garcia, and former manager Bernie Cahill will also be producers on the film.
Scorsese and the Grateful Dead have worked together in the past as he served as an executive producer of the six-part docuseries about the band called Long Strange Trip.
