It’s about that time where we have to start thinking about Holiday gift giving and all that stuff. If there’s a metal head, hardcore kid, punk rocker or just a purveyor of loud noises on your list, you might consider throwing one of these albums in their stocking and blowing their hair back a bit.
Beretta – “Beretta EP” This Seattle-based band writes pure catchy, sing-along worthy heavy metal goodness! Between bands like Solicitor, Detonator, Skelator and Beretta, the Northwest seems to be experiencing its own revival of righteous old school rock n roll. This is the band’s first demo and it rips! I’m looking forward to seeing Beretta live sometime soon, preferably in a dirty dive bar. Check out more info about Beretta here
.gif from god – “Possible Futures In The Minds Of Children”I had no idea what to expect when my friend suggested this band to me and to be completely honest, I still have no idea what .gif from god is….and I mean that in the best possible way. This band is chaotic insanity right from the start, throwing together a mélange of influences like Pig Destroyer, Botch and Converge mixed together with elements of both 90’s screamo and death metal. Honestly, trying to dissect it is pointless, just let the music speak for itself. This song comes from the album
approximation_of_a_human which was released at the end of September by Prosthetic Records. The band is from Virginia, so I’m hoping that being on a bigger metal label like Prosthetic will allow them to tour out to our side of the country. I’d certainly like to see how .gif from god throws down in a live setting. Purchase or stream their entire album

Take Offense – “Keep An Eye Out”It’s no secret that the members of Chula Vista based hardcore / crossover band Take Offense are big Suicidal Tendencies fans. There’s no denying that these guys take a ton of influence from the classic Venice Beach S.T. sound, but it’s refreshing to hear an updated 2019 take on it. These guys have been at it for a looooooong time, as they formed in the early 2000’s while still in high school. They stuck with it, grinding on the DIY hardcore scene for years and amassing a solid foundation of fan support. This is definitely going to be in my top 20 albums of the year. This is the title track from their debut album on Pure Noise Records

Year Of The Cobra – “Into the Fray” THAT BASS TONE! Holy crap, right? This two-piece Seattle band has been hitting the road hard for the last few years, growing in size and scale with every release. I’ve been a fan of this band since their debut EP, but this…. this is a different beast. It’s bigger, stonier, groovier, heavier…. everything is just more. For a band that is comprised of solely a bassist and a drummer they have a completely locked in sound that needs nothing more. This is the first single from their new album
Ash and Dust on Prophecy. They are playing a record release show for
Ash And Dust at the Substation in Seattle on November 23rd alongside 7 other killer bands. Follow Year of the Cobra and get more info on the show

Wolfbrigade – “The Wolfman”Crust caked Swedish punk crew Wolfbrigade is back with a nasty dose of Motorhead-meets-Discharge ear annihilating hardcore. It’s no wonder these guys were one of three huge headliners for this year’s Northwest Terror Fest back in May. This is the kind of album that is perfect to throw on when you need to get s*** done – it’s fast, pissed and raging. This song is on their new album
The Enemy: Reality available now on Southern Lord Records. Purchase the album
