Every year at Pain in the Grass the fine folks at Motley Zoo Animal Rescue join us backstage with a smattering of dogs and cats in need of a good home. It's always interesting see the Corey Taylors, Marilyn Mansons and Rob Zombies of the world 'ooh' and awww' over these fuzzy little things. Everybody does.
I see this each and every year and while I recognize their inherent cuteness and all that, my heart is just cold enough that I never considered adopting one.
That all changed this year when I met Molly. Molly is a puppy and she made eyes with me...and my streak of ignoring animals in need ended.
Molly now lives in my home, sleeps on my sofa, occasionally poops on my floor and always makes me smile.
I'm getting soft.
