Yesterday was straight up f**king weird. Odd. Off-kilter. Wrong. Other like-meaning words.
Mike Hawk wasn't here either. Mike is very much the backbone to everything we do. Technical stuff, on-air stuff, he's got his fingers in everything. Take that last statement any way you'd like.
So Mike was not in and with that, Miles and I take care of the news...both the stuff Mike is not working on and the ones he does. No problem. A little extra work but nothing we can't handle. Um, but we probably would done a much better job if we had remembered that Mike wasn't coming in.
Then, about 30 minutes before the show...and continuing throughout its entirety...a bunch of 'tech' sh*t went down in flames...not literally...all kinds of things went south. Again, not literally.
Sh*t went wrong. Literally. The 'tech' effects our ability to take phone calls and other pesky little details like that. The 'tech' was never resolved, but Robin came up with a plan that let us carry on. And then we all regretted that when we took actual calls.
It is what we call a 'heroic failure'. It wasn't a bad show...not all of it...but it was a train wreck. However, we felt like conductors that KNOW the train is crashing but won't tell the passengers.
But it's over now so we let a collective 'whew' and grab some booze.
