You have to take a countdown list with a grain of salt, but to stick Alex Lifeson at #98 of the 100 Greatest Guitarists is pure musical blasphemy.

Yes, they are my favorite band in the world. Yes, I am a superfan! But ask any accomplished guitarist, and I guarantee you they'd agree with the fact that Alex Lifeson of Rush is sorely underrated on Rolling Stone's list. I  mean, they put Kurt Cobain 25 slots ahead of him... *shrugs shoulders and rolls eyes*

All that said, today is Lerxst's 67th birthday, so I thought I would count down my personal favorite songs that spotlight him - these are Alex Lifeson's Top 10 Guitar Solos, according to ME!

10. "Working Man" - solo begins at 2:31

9. "Bastille Day" - solo begins at 2:14

8. "Jacob's Ladder" - solo begins at 1:50

7. "YYZ" - solo begins at  2:26

6. "Limelight"

5. "The Trees" - solo begins at 3:12

4. "Freewill" - solo begins at 3:14

3. "2112 Overture" - solo begins at 3:02

2. "La Villa Strangiato"

1. "Anthem" - solo begins at 2:27

It took me SO long to make this list flow, and I second and third guessed EVERY song and EVERY position. Heck, this list will probably vary from year to year for me, and there are songs like "Xanadu" that I cannot believe didn't make it on... Can I do my Top 11?

Thanks for letting me fan-girl on my favorite band's guitarist - Happy Birthday, Lerxst!!

Happy Rocking (from a safe social distance),
