When you talk about some of the greats of rock history like Mick Jagger, David Bowie, Joey Ramone etc. Iggy Pop is definitely in that greatness in pop-culture. Still blows me away I've been able to capture all 4 of those legends in my lenses. Last nights show at the great Marymoor Park was one for the ages. Literally the ages! Iggy still rocking the stage after 60 years at 78 years old, his also aging crowd in attendance still supporting this former singer of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band The Stooges and the younger generation there to see a legend not to be seen too many more times in this lifetime.

A near sold-out crowd got their monies worth! Even though Iggy isn't over the top outrageous from his younger days, he's a complete marvel to see even at an age most rockers are sitting at home doing nothing but counting royalty checks and slowly fading into history. Not Iggy! His body completely showing the wear and tears of touring for decades, the self abuse and physical ailments that have you wondering how he's still doing what he's doing night in and night out. Age doesn't give a you know what to anyone. We're all headed to the sagging wrinkles and physical ailments, in Iggy's case he is a lifelong punk so so ya know what? He does not give a s**t and neither should you. It's his battle scars and who he is still attitude wise at nearly 80 years old. I mean hell I don't think I'll ever feel bad taking my shirt off anymore at 58 if Iggy can ha ha!!

Even with his scoliosis and one leg being one and a half inches shorter than the other, bad hip, twisted spine etc. Iggy doesn't let all that effect his stage presence onstage. He's just a little slower and more careful where he moves onstage. Even so I was blown away seeing him do some of his signature swagger body moves, jumps and his voice sounded great! I mean serious, most singers ya hear live at that age you're cringing here and there in their live sets, but not Iggy!

His 20 song setlist was amazing! You just couldn't leave, song after song you're just fixated on how good they are and with his fantastic band (including a horn section) Iggy was better than expected. Last time I saw him live and photo'd was 9 years ago at the Paramount. He's just as good and even a better band now than back then. Things are on the rise again too with Iggy being featured in the Teddybears "PunkRocker" track (listen here) he sang on in 2006 now in the new Superman movie. Such a great tune. The set ended with a funny for me cause I was texting Duff McKagan a little video clip of "I Wanna Be Your Dog" while he was in Luxembourg City, LU in Europe just getting done playing with GNR (Sex Pistols were opening the show) and then Iggy said "This is going out to Duff McKagan! Louie Louie baby!" So Duff was like "WOW!!" I knew if he was here home he would've been on that stage with Iggy at some point.

If you were there you know the energy, the vibe and appreciation Iggy had for everyone still there supporting his career. When he did "Search and Destroy" it was instant air-guitar enjoyment for myself. By far one of my favorite songs ever. It was wonderful and made me stay to the end because in real life you don't know how many more times you'll get to see these rock legends perform. HUGE thanks to everyone at Marymoor Security (Allied) and Andy at Cascade Music Collective for the hospitality of a night I soon will NOT forget watching from side pit. My last Iggy shot of my time in the pit below says it all. We both enjoy what we do even decades into doing what we do. As I always say with a smile "Have fun or go home". Long live the punk Godfather Iggy Pop cause you're still having fun like Jagger (now 82) up on that stage. Keep up-to-date with all of Iggy's touring at: https://iggypop.com
