Seahawks Second Week of Free Agency Brings The Rush

Mike Hawk's Fired Up

Hola 12s!
We're 2 weeks in to Free Agency, 4 weeks away from the draft, and the Hawks are making decisions that while exciting, are a little puzzling. I'll get into that in just a moment. First up, who we got and who we lost.

ACQUIRED
Pleased to announce that we signed some monster pass-rushers in the last week, both I was hoping for, neither I was too confident we would keep. Benson Mayowa and Carlos Dunlap! As you recall, I had put down the bet that we'd part ways with Dunlap and stick with Mayowa. Dunlap brought us a lot in a short stint with us last season and I didn't expect he'd stick around, but lo and behold we signed both those bad mamajamas back onto the squad, solidifying our pass rush. Along with Poona Ford, whom I forgot to mention we resigned last time, and Al Woods from the Jags, we're going to have a pretty tenacious defensive line next year.

LOST
Sad news earlier this week with the loss of a truly spectacular DL, Jarran Reed. He was a dominant man on that line for many years and I'm sad to see him go. Best of luck with KC good buddy.

THOUGHTS
Now for the more puzzling part of the story. Along with the nice signings on the defensive side, we see a similar situation on the offensive side. If you look at it objectively, with the signing of Ogbuehi and Simmons, we've basically got the same O-line from last year, with Jackson filling the vacant slot of a man that retired....On top of that, we've got a whopping 3 picks in the draft this year...3. We hear that Russ is back to his usual "Go Hawks" proclaimations now, we hear that he and Caroll have worked out any bad blood they may have had, so what's the play? Wilson wanted some protection, but we've added 1, count him, 1 vet, with no real answers coming up in the draft. This makes me wonder just what's being cooked up in the offices. Are they building trade stock? Are they just going to give Russell a little more freedom when it comes to playcalling? I'm glad the dust has settled with this team, I'm just trying to figure out how...

Concerns aside, I'm still glad to see some good play-makers signed back to the 87team. Now there's whispers of reunions with Sherman and even Tate, my opinion, I like the nostalgia of it, but I doubt anything really comes from it. Reports are that the team and players are "Open to" a reunion, which means the same thing on both ends. "Is the paycheck right?" "Can they still perform?" If they both answer yes, we get a great nostalgic reunion. If no, we just quit talking about it. Exciting time to be a Hawks fan, we're seeing a team in transistion and I like what we're seeing! 4 Weeks until the draft! With that...Mike Hawk is OUT!
