Where Are They Now: Connie Cole

Connie Cole celebrates 50 Years of KISW

How many years did you work at KISW? 1 1/2 years just a drop in the bucket. What a great group of people to work with. Still love that bunch!

What position(s) did you work at KISW? On-Air and Assistant Music Director.

What are your three greatest memories at KISW?
1. Hanging out in the kitchen with the crew (sounds boring but it was always fun).
2. Steve Slaton would set up chairs in the studio and invite any and all to join him in the studio for a beer and/or smoke break. He even supplied the cigs.
3. Meeting the celebs like David Lee Roth and Joe Walsh!

What's a story you couldn't tell people back in the day? Thanks to a few beer Fridays, I think I shared it all! Oops!

What band were you most proud to bring to a bigger audience? Probably Hewy Lewis, although this came at an earlier time and station.

How has Seattle changed the most? It once resembled the Cheers atmosphere. Any night of the week you could visit any number of pubs/clubs and see a group of familiar faces. Upstart bands ie. Nirvanna and Heart. Bumped into Led Zeppelin at Pier 70. They got up and joined the local band on stage. Spectacular music.

What's something you never thought you'd see? Me retired from radio.  :( Although I'm still working on voice work from my home studio.

What's your best memory of meeting a rock star? Trick question...??? Probably dinner and chats with Robert Plant. My hands are becoming clammy.. yikes!

Who was your best friend at the station back in the day? Dan Wilkie was my bud!

Favorite concert from your time at KISW? Ted Nugent, flaming arrows and all.

What was your most memorable band interview? Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull. Not the most memorable because it was good. It was an impromptu interview that I wasn't prepared for. He scared the hell out of me. Steve from the studio helped me with questions. LOL Thank you Steve!
