
The Songwriters Hall of Fame will welcome six new songwriters/songwriting teams in 2025. They include George Clinton, Ashley Gorley, Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, Mike Love, Tony Macaulay and three members of The Doobie Brothers (Tom Johnston, Michael McDonald and Patrick Simmons).

All inductees will be honored at the the organization’s 2025 Induction and Awards Gala scheduled for June 12 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.
During the ceremony, recipients for the career-capping Johnny Mercer Award and current songwriting recognition Hal David Starlight Award will be revealed.
This years’ honorees beat out twenty-six original nominees who were all vying for a spot in the class of 2025. Those who fell shy of the honor include four women — Franne Golde, Sheryl Crow, Janet Jackson and Alanis Morissette – none of which made it making it the first woman-less class since 2017.
