BBC News has told its anchors they can "relax" their formal dress code.

As the network looks to reinvent it's 24-hour news channel, its anchors will be allowed to dress a bit more down than before as people seem to trust journalists with a "sweaty and dirty" look more!

Per Deadline, Naja Nielsen, BBC News' Director of Digital, told BBC employees last week, "It's a bit like, be as sweaty and dirty as when we're in the field is actually more trustworthy than if we look like we've just stepped out of an awards ceremony or a fine dinner party."

One source said dress code changes were already happening on screen, pointing to weather presenter Tomasz Schafernaker, who was wearing a jacket and T-shirt on at least one occasion.

Other insiders believe Nielsen's comments were simply her "expressing a desire for increased authenticity."
