On Wednesday, South Park aired an episode titled Worldwide Privacy Tour, which focused on a "prince of Canada" and his wife that settle in the fictional Colorado town.
Though never stated by name, the couple bears a striking resemblance to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, and that likeness was not lost on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Reportedly, Markle was "upset and overwhelmed" by the episode, and she and Harry even reportedly mulled a potential lawsuit against the show.
However, a spokesperson for the couple told PEOPLE those rumors were "all frankly nonsense. Totally baseless, boring reports."
Even if Harry and Meghan did sue, chances are they wouldn't win.
Media and entertainment lawyer Brian Sullivan told IndieWire that South Park's reputation for chiding topical issues gives the show a very strong parody defense.
"South Park is widely regarded as a parody and they parody many, many things. And anything said on 'South Park' is not meant to be true or defamatory," he said.
"It was clearly a parody. And it really wasn't defamatory in any way. It's not like [South Park was] saying [Meghan and Harry] did some sort of action or conduct that didn't happen."
