Basketball Hall of Famer Shaquille O'Neal was one of the many celebrities who endorsed the cryptocurrency exchange FTX.

FTX went bankrupt in November, and now Shaq has been named in a lawsuit filed by retail investor Edwin Garrison, who says he was "persuaded" to open an FTX account due to "the influence of celebrity endorsements."

Disgraced FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried, along with Giselle Bündchen, Tom Brady, Larry David, Stephen Curry, Udonis Haslem, David Ortiz, Trevor Lawrence, Shohei Ohtani, Naomi Osaka, Kevin O'Leary, were also named as defendants in the lawsuit.

According to Larry Brown Sports, Garrison's attorneys said in a court filing that they have had difficulty serving O'Neal with the lawsuit, and have accused him of even hiding in his home to avoid being served.

Despite using four different service companies in order to serve his legal papers, Garrison's attorneys say Shaq is the only defendant who has gone to such great lengths to avoid being served.

The class-action lawsuit in which O'Neal is a defendant is different from the federal lawsuit against FTX.

Overall, FTX was said to have lost about $8 billion by misusing customer funds.  Sam Bankman-Fried is currently under house arrest as he's facing eight criminal charges for offenses including wire fraud, commodities fraud, securities fraud, money laundering, and campaign finance law violation.
