The city of Changwon in South Korea has come up with a unique way to combat its declining population.
The city has announced that they are willing to pay residing married couples a grant of almost $100,000 if they have at least three children. If the couple gives birth to one child, the interest on the loan would be waived. For two children, 30% of the loan principal would be forgiven, and f the family has three children, the ENTIRE loan is forgiven.
Kim Jong-pil, a representative of Changwon's planning department, said the grants comes at a time when "more innovative marriage and childbirth incentives" are needed in the city.
