Vanderbilt University chancellor surprises faculty with $1,500 bonus added to paychecks

The faculty, staff, and postdocs at Vanderbilt University are riding a little bit higher today after a surprise from the school's chancellor netted everyone a cool $1,500 bonus added to their paychecks at the end of the month!

Chancellor Daniel Diermeier said via a press release from the school, "It has not been easy, especially during the unprecedented challenges of the pandemic. However, your dedication to our vision and goals enables our university to operate at its highest level. I am indeed grateful as we approach Vanderbilt’s 150th anniversary in a position of strength and with optimism about our path forward."

The school awarded the bonuses to some 9,000 eligible employees, INCLUDING those working part-time.

Vanderbilt has more than 7,000 undergraduate students, and 6,400 graduate students enrolled at the school.
