Just last Friday, lead guitarist Joe Perry spoke with The Boston Globe and potentially revealed a 2023 show in Boston within a 40-plus-date US tour. “I miss being on the road… well I say that now” he joked. “Every time we play something, I feel like I'm doing it for the first time. There's something to be said for playing every night or playing every other night and getting in a groove. That's really what it's about. And taking care of ourselves.”
Billboards are now popping up in venues across the country, displaying the words “Peace Out” against the Aerosmith logo.
Music journalist Mitch Lafton tweeted a photo of the billboard image showing up at TD Garden, which would back up Perry’s mention of a Boston show. Creating an entire feed, he then included photos of the tour-hint at the Ball Arena in Denver, Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City, the State Farm Arena in Atlanta and the Chase Center in San Francisco. It’s only a matter of time before these hints spread and become entire statements of their own.
While Aerosmith has neither confirmed nor denied the teasers, they have reposted the same logo on their social media and a date to pay attention to: “May 1st 2023 10:00am EST.” Their website even features a countdown clock for the unnamed announcement.
Whatever they’re alluding to, Steven Tyler’s return to the band after his health scare in 2022 is sure to thrill Aerosmith fans everywhere. But a farewell tour for a band with their fanbase and influence would thrill the entire rock world.
