Kansas City, MO - Cultivate KC is assisting the Missouri Department of Agriculture with the launch of the Missouri Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program. Program Manager, Kathleen Foster says those who qualify will receive $60 in vouchers to use on fresh produce at the farmers market.

"Often times it's difficult for folks on a fixed income. This program really helps seniors to get out there and go to their markets and get fresh fruits and vegetables, so they have a healthy diet and are interacting with their community," explains Foster.

To qualify, seniors must be 60 years or older with a single household income under $22,459 annually and be a resident of Cass, Clay, Jackson, Platte, or Ray county.

Seniors can apply Saturday at the Independence Uptown Market from 9am to 12:30pm and on Sunday at the City Market from 9am to noon. They'll need to bring their ID, Proof of income, and a utility bill for proof of address.
