Alex Tanney spent time with nine different organizations during a playing career as a backup quarterback, but the new Eagles offensive quality control coach under Nick Sirianni is perhaps more famous for his viral exploits.
During his collegiate career at Division III Monmouth (IL), Tanney became famous for the tricks he could do with a football:
Tanney's tricks were so impressive that in 2013 he was featured in Season 2 of Stan Lee's Superhumans, which aired on The History Channel.
Now 33, Tanney retired from playing earlier this week. Tanney completed 11 of 15 career pass attempts, finishing his career with the New York Giants.
Quality control coach is essentially an entry level position on an NFL coaching staff, but some quality control coaches go on to be NFL head coaches. Sirianni was a quality control coach on Todd Haley's staff with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2009. Doug Pederson was an offensive quality control coordinator for Andy Reid with the Eagles in 2009 and 2010.
