KANSAS CITY -  Mayor Quinton Lucas joined Kansas City's Morning News today, where we asked him about what's being done about the continuing scourge of gun violence.

Over the weekend, a teen girl was killed when she was hit by a bullet that was shot into her home. It was the 100th murder of the year in KC, a number reached or surpassed in 33 of the last 40 years.

Lucas says there are a number of things that are being done to reduce the homicide rate, but there's no simple solution, and more needs to happen.

You can listen to the entire interview here:

Sixteen-year-old Traelynn Sibley was fatally shot in her home in the 3600 block of Norton Avenue just after 10pm Saturday night. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered in the case. Anyone with information, can call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.

Mayor Lucas joins Wink & Amy on Kansas City's Morning News live every Monday morning at 7:30 on 98.1 fm. You can also listen at KMBZ.com or by finding KMBZ on the free Audacy App.
