KANSAS CITY — When you're on a long trip and you get a little peckish... what do you do?
Well, Jayme from Midday with Jayme and Grayson reaches into her bag and pulls out this tasty homemade steak marinara sandwich.

Here's her recipe:

INGREDIENTS:
(Jayme says: No, I don't specify amounts, because I'm Italian and we don't do that)
Loaf of French or Italian bread
Marinara sauce
Sliced or mozzarella or provolone cheese
Steak

DIRECTIONS:
Slice bread in half length-wise, then cut into sandwich-sized sections. Toast the bread.
Slice steak thinly, and long enough to fit the bread. Season with salt and pepper. Grill to your liking.
When steak and bread are both done, build the bottom layer of your sandwich:
1. Bread
2. Marinara (not TOO much, unless you also packed a Tide pen)
3. Steak
4. Cheese (don't be stingy!!)

Spray a sheet pan with olive oil spray. Lay the bottoms of your sandwich out on the sheet pan. Turn your broiler on low. But the sandwich bottoms under the broiler until the cheese is melted and a little brown.

Apply a layer of marinara (remember, not too sloppy) to the inside of your top half of bread. Put the top on the bottom. TA DA! Steak Marinara Sandwich!

Now, wrap them. Jayme says start with a generous amount of plastic wrap, then cover in foil, then put into zip-lock bags.

buon appetito!
