Well wishes are pouring in for Oscar-winning performer Jamie Foxx, 55, following the announcement that he suffered from a “medical complication” this week.

Foxx’s daughter, Corinne, posted a message on Instagram Wednesday that he had “experienced a medical complication,” Tuesday but was “already on his way to recovery.”

“We know he is beloved and we appreciate your thoughts and prayers,” said the message. “The family asks for privacy during this time.”

Foxx is originally from Terrell, Texas. He became well known on the comedy sketch show “In Living Color” and his sitcom “The Jamie Foxx Show” and “Peep This”, his 1994 debut album. For his Oscar-winning role as Ray Charles in the biopic “Ray”, Foxx used his acting and musical talents.

Recently, Foxx filmed the 2020 movie “Project Power” in New Orleans, La.

TMZ reported Wednesday that Foxx was hospitalized due to the medical condition, but that was not mentioned by his family. It also said that Foxx had been working Atlanta, Ga. on a film called “Back in Action” with Glenn Close and Cameron Diaz.

As of Thursday, sources told TMZ that Foxx was “doing a lot better,” and joking with his family.

“We’re told he’ll be in the hospital for at least a few more days, while doctors perform tests,” said the outlet.

After news about the complication came out, people on social media began sending Foxx their well wishes:

“My family and I are lifting you up in prayer. Much love and many blessings my brotha,” said comedian and actor Martin Lawrence.

“Please join me in sending up prayers for our brother Jamie Foxx for a swift and complete recovery,” said singer-songwriter Siedah Garrett. “Love you, Jamie!”

“I’m praying for you Jamie Foxx,” said comedian and actor David Alan Grier. “Get well soon!”
