The Lord of the Rings director shared a sneak peek of his documentary The Beatles: Get Back and it contains incredible behind-the-scenes footage of the Fab Four in the studio, in concert, and in their homes.

“This film was due to be finished around about now, but like the rest of the world, has been affected by the COVID pandemic,” Jackson said in an introduction.

“And so the only good thing really is that we are in the movie in New Zealand and now that our country has largely stamped out the virus, we were able to come back into the cutting room and carry on with the editing that we’re doing.”

Jackson and his team had access to 56 hours of never-before-seen footage of The Beatles. The documentary focuses on the pivotal period of the band’s career as they were in the studio preparing songs for their final 1970 album Let It Be.

Unlike other documentaries that have a bittersweet feeling to them, Jackson’s footage is full of joy and showcases the band’s brighter and happier moments during this time.

That part was intentional on Jackson’s behalf as he said, “We wanted to give the fans of The Beatles all over the world a holiday treat, so we put together this five-minute sneak peek at our upcoming theatrical film The Beatles: Get Back. We hope it will bring a smile to everyone’s faces and some much-needed joy at this difficult time.”

The Beatles: Get Back is scheduled to be released in theaters and streaming on Disney+ on August 27, 2021.
